More than games: a panel dicussion for people considering career options

If you're a student considering future course options or someone looking for a career change, then ‘More Than Games' at the State Library of Queensland is the event for you.

On Friday the 6th of February the State Library of Queensland will be hosting ‘More Than Games' - four comprehensive sessions covering the various aspects of the games industry.

David Zwierzchaczewski and Dawn Riley from Qantm will be on the panel for two of the sessions:

Session 2: Meet the Gamer

A rare opportunity to hear from the people behind the scenes of your favourite game. Making a video game is a complex process and features the talents of hundreds of creative people. Meet writers, producers, artists, and more, and explore the many facets of the gaming world. Attending this event will be David Zwierzchaczewski - Animation lecturer at Qantm College.

David is a co-founder of Star City Media and Creative Director for its soon to be announced flagship productions. He is a leading animation supervisor for both games and TV and has worked for many internationally recognised companies such as Disney, Miramax, Warner Brothers, Sony Music, Network Nine (Australia) and Channel 5 (UK). He has been involved in film, TV and games work and has mentored many teams through all stages of production.

Session 4: Game Studies Showcase

Your chance to quiz representatives from Brisbane's key universities, colleges and design schools as they come together to explain what you might expect from tertiary level studies of games. Former students will also be on hand to share their stories of how they moved from studying games to working in the industry. Attendingn this event will be Dawn Riley - National Academic Coordinator at Qantm College.

Dawn has extensive experience in higher and vocational education in both the public and private sectors and has qualifications in digital media, design, education and computer engineering. Dawn has designed and managed digital projects across a wide range of delivery media; has exhibited both locally and internationally and has won awards and recognition for her screen and game designs.
